Social Media Seminar
The YWCA Leadership Camp participants attended a seminar on Social Media and Teens. Their insights and input helped the adults attendees learn more about what is great about certain social media formats and what doesn’t work. The teens learned more about how fast photos and words travel in cyberspace and which ones are out there forever.

Personal Reflection by Tierra Harris, Leadership Camp Participant
I am 18 years old and have a one-year-old daughter. I recently graduated from Ben L. Smith High School in Greensboro. My strengths include being outspoken and creating humor to ease tense situations.
The YWCA Teen Parent Mentor Programs, including the Leadership Camp, have helped me in many ways. Everyone on the staff have welcoming attitudes and make me feel comfortable. I enjoy hearing different guest speakers who give advice on how to prepare for important things in your life. This is a nonjudgmental zone. They match you with a mentor and that mentor is there for you to help with whatever you may need – whether it’s advice or a ride somewhere. This program really pushes me to be great and to excel in all I do.
On the Ropes
A ropes course is one way to build confidence. Our participants took to it well!

I like to read this book to my daughter because it was my favorite when I was little. I make faces and change my voice when I read it to her and she laughs. –SB
I like to read any book with numbers to my son, I like those books because he understands and learns how to count along. –LH
I like to read books with ABC’s and pictures. I like them because it helps him with learning his ABC’s and he gets excited and starts clapping when I say them. –KM
