Young Women in CHARGE (Confident, Healthy, Assertive, Resourceful, Gifted, and Empowered) is a youth centered adolescent primary pregnancy prevention program. We serve middle school and high school girls once a week at our school sites and community centers. Our program is designed to increase the relevancy, retention and relatability of our comprehensive sexual health curriculum by addressing consent, communication, healthy relationships, orientation, gender, sexual violence, self-advocacy and community engagement.
Young Women in CHARGE Young Organizer Training
Young Women in CHARGE offers a week long intensive organizer training at the beginning of the summer. This camp equips high school students with the skills they need to be peer counselors for the YWCA’s S\summer camps. During our week together we will cover organizing skills, team building, meeting facilitation, democratic processes, activity planning, advocacy, community and civic engagement. From transitioning to high school to college resumes to first jobs, the skills learned at this camp can be used in many aspects of young people’s lives.
