Teen Families Reading Together (TFRT) is a 10-week program for teen moms and their children, supporting the moms’ academic success and knowledge of parenting while promoting positive parent-child interaction.
Each participant is matched with a mentor and offered the opportunity to:
-
develop friendships
-
receive one-on-one tutoring
-
read, sing, and play with her child during circle time
-
access library resources on jobs, colleges, and careers
-
learn about how young children grow and learn
-
play with her child in the creative learning environment of the Greensboro Children’s Museum
-
build a home library for her child
The YWCA provides transportation, dinner, childcare, and 10-12 high quality children’s books to participants. TFRT is offered with support from the Greensboro Public Library and the Greensboro Children’s Museum.
