“It was a pleasure working with your staff, primarily Michele, and we were thrilled with what we were able to accomplish for the organization.”
– Tyler Hodgin
BB&T Lighthouse Project was busy here at the YWCA Greensboro last month. There were 49 volunteers who donated 276 working hours to the sprucing up of our facility.
Among the projects they completed: painted the common area of the shelter, built shelves and organized the area under the stairwell, assembled multiple toys for the kids, assembled a full size basketball goal, assembled 2 changing tables, provided and stained a picnic table, assembled 2 outdoor storage boxes, landscaped a 260 sq. ft. area in front of the shelter, purchased 4 bookshelves(we didn’t assemble). Beautified the roof deck by installing flower planters/pots, bench, and table.
When asked how the YWCA was chosen, Tyler Hodgin, replied: “We have our staff complete an annual survey to gauge interest on what type of organization they would like to volunteer for and a family shelter was one of the top responses. Jennifer Blevins of Lighthouse Project made some calls and Michele [Cheek] was quick to meet with us. Given the new location we felt we could make a large impact with the budget and number of volunteers that we had to offer.”
Given the generosity and hard work of this group, we know our facility shines and our program participants and employees are impressed with the improvements made.
Thank you, Lighthouse Project!
