Last year, we received an email from the mother of a young local girl who had taken an interest in the topic of homelessness and wanted to help. Her 8-year-old daughter, “G”, decided to use her original art work to raise money for an organization serving homeless families, and she chose the YWCA Greensboro to be on the receiving end.
Throughout the month of February, G and her mom sold products created with G’s art on them. At the end of her project, she graciously donated over $2,000 to our organization!
G and her mom visited our building, toured our Emergency Family Homeless Shelter, and met with our President and CEO, Deb Harris Richardson, to learn more about homelessness in Greensboro and what we’re doing to combat it.
This year, G and her mom have reached out again wanting to support the work we do to serve families in Greensboro experiencing homelessness. Items like fridge magnets, acrylic blocks, and prints featuring G’s art are available for purchase through the end of February.
