When it comes to our children’s health, nothing is more important. Shaping public policy to promote and protect the well being of our young people is vital to the community.
Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is completed nationally, statewide and locally every few years. However, the gap has widened since the last survey was done specifically in Guilford County Schools. Not since 2011 has data been collected and analyzed.
YWCA Partners for Healthy Youth
will hold a Community Conversation
on this topic on April 26, 2016
at the YWCA Greensboro.
The program, 9:15 to 11:30 a.m., will feature discussion led by Ellen Essick, NC Healthy Schools, Section Chief for the NC Department of Public Instruction. She will be joined by Jen Kimbrough, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance at Elon University. Ms. Essick has been involved in the statewide Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), which provides information about student health behaviors in the 6 major health risks for adolescents. Dr. Kimbrough has produced a Guilford County School Health Report Card in her former position as director of Partners for Healthy Youth and used the data collected through the survey.
The YRBS survey is part of the evidence based research and data to inform state and local school personnel who plan health education programming for students.
