Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Partners,
It is an honor to step into the role of Board President at YWCA Greensboro during such a pivotal moment in our organization’s journey. As we look ahead, we do so with clarity, urgency, and a renewed commitment to the communities we serve. I’m reaching out because you were part of our mission last year, and that truly mattered.
Over the past several months, our organization has gone through a period of transition. In January, we made the difficult decision to close our Emergency Family Shelter, and in March, we celebrated the retirement of our President and CEO, Deb Harris Richardson, whose leadership shaped so much of our work. While change can be challenging, it has also strengthened our resolve. YWCA Greensboro is entering a new chapter— one centered on advancing maternal health, strengthening women’s empowerment, and deepening our longstanding commitment to racial and social justice, and delivering coordinated, wraparound support that helps families thrive. These priorities are not new to our mission, but they are now our focused call to action. In a time when disparities in maternal health outcomes persist and women—particularly women of color—continue to face systemic barriers, we believe our work has never been more critical.
Today, YWCA Greensboro remains fully committed to serving our community. Every day, individuals and families are still receiving support through programs like:
? Healthy Moms Healthy Babies, helping mothers access care and resources
? Teen Parent Mentor Program, supporting young parents as they build brighter futures
In addition, partnerships like the Family Success Center 2—a United Way of Greater Greensboro–led program located onsite—expand access to coaching, resources, and guidance that support long-term stability and opportunity for families. While partner programs are funded separately, they strengthen the network of support available at YWCA Greensboro.
These programs are making a real difference, and they continue because of people like you. Last year, you chose to give. I’m inviting you to do so again. A gift of any amount helps ensure that we can continue to show up for mothers, families, and young people in our community.
